About This Book

The story is about how a little girl used her teddy bear to hide the fact that she was an exceptionally gifted child. She did this because she somehow knew that her mother would be upset if she knew she had taught herself to read and write. So instead she blamed teddy, by saying he had taught her.
But strangely enough her mother was not too thrilled by thee way she always talked to her toys all the time either.
This constant friction between mother and child caused much unhappiness in Elaine's life, -until her father discovered what had been going on and put a stop to it. He then sent her to a school for gifted children, where Elaine thrived and felt happy.
The story is based on a true story about a mother that wanted her daughter to be just an ordinary little girl and not a small genius.
