Surrogate, is a medical thriller that examines how far women and science might go to produce biological children. Marlise Roberts appears to lead a charmed life. She is president of a consulting firm in Chicago. She has a beautiful home in historic River Forest and a loving husband. She thrives on the challenge and variety of her consulting career. Her latest client, GenSci, offers her a glimpse into the fascinating world of biotechnology. What people don't see is that Marlise is consumed with having a child. After several miscarriages and unsuccessful in vitro fertilizations she is desperate. A new doctor offers her the perfect surrogate. Annie follows doctor's orders precisely, eats only healthy food, and never complains. The only catch is that Marlise is allowed no contact with the woman. She suspects something unethical, but can't walk away from her last hope.
