Sunset Cloud

Shelley was in a decidedly difficult situation - if she didn't marry a certain man - a man, moreover, she hadn't the slightest wish to marry! - her stepfather would be sent to prison and her mother's heart broken. What could she do? In an attempt to sort herself out Shelley went on holiday to the lake district - and found herself in a situation far more dramatic than the one she was already in - a situation which resulted in her being married and widowed within a few hours, and the owner of a crumbling mansion! It all seemed like a dream - but then she found herself crossing swords with Adam Gascoine, an experience which was anything but dreamlike.
