Chantal would never marry Giffard Delaney and she was quick to tell him so. When it seemed that she was to be forced to do so, she escaped, only to fall into a pool at the bottom of a quarry.

Awakening from unconsciousness, she found herself in the care of a stranger with only a blanket covering her. She had no choice but to go along with him, at least until she could replace her tattered clothes. But she found the trip logger than she thought, and the man more important to her than she ever imagined.
