Stuff of Nightmares

What if someone is out there? What if they know where you work, where you play, who you hold dear and know who you love? What if you're a police lieutenant with years of experience and training in charge of a major homicide unit yet, to your knowledge, whoever it might be has broken no laws, committed no crimes? What if you're wrong? Old sins never die and they never grow old or complacent. They simply wait patiently for the right moment, the right time to return. Wait until a time when you least expect them, a time when you think they are long buried in a distant past. Then and only then will they rise up from the dead and become the stuff of nightmares.
