About This Book

In the 1950's, Dolly Miller's parents invited social misfits, eccentrics, people of diverse nationalities and backgrounds, and physically and mentally impaired folks to their home. Some were lovable, some trying and others downright hard to take. Each of the twenty-five chapters highlights one of our unique guests, friends, relatives, or neighbors.

All stories are tied together by the Miller family, their three older daughters and their youngest, Dolly, the narrator. Most stories are funny, some sad, but you'll take away the same satisfying feeling you get from a good home-cooked meal.

As Dolly's mother used to say, "It's not the unvarnished truth, but the truth with lots of varnish."
