Strange Things

Eyes without a soul peered at them from the concealment provided by the building and shadows of the alley. It was the source of the scent laden air. It moved further back into the shadows and then on into the night. The eyes circled the area where the detectives searched, moving in stealth, never losing sight of the dectectives, as it watched them, waiting, eyes laden with malicious intent, pursued the two of them, yet it stood back, out of sight, unseen as it sniffed the air in search of the strange redolent air it pursued. "What was it? What dfid you see?" "Saw something out of the corner of my eye. Don't know what it was. It was too big to be an animal. It moved peculiarly. Can't explain it, but it moved like an animal, but not like anything I've ever seen."
