Allan Marley's father has been taken away to serve a prison term, so now Allan lives all by himself on a wilderness lake. One day, Allan sees a huge black retriever fall through the ice. Allan bravely saves the dog—and makes a friend for life. Allan's new friend, Stormy, is a born hunter who loves the wild country as much as he does. Stormy has troubles too—he's been branded an outlaw. Together they courageously battle both the dangerous wilderness and cruel men who try to take away Allan's home.
