For years, Theresa Philips, co-CEO of the Philips Corporation, has focused all of her attention on figuring out the best way to be the perfect single mother to her eight-year-old son Michael while helping her brothers run a multi-million-dollar conglomerate. But now the blonde-haired, green-eyed beauty is busy exploring her newfound African-American heritage. She's starting to have fun. But her nights are getting lonelier and lonelier. Looking like she does, Theresa can't honestly blame people for having a hard time with her identity, but when she meets handsome-hunk mechanic Pierson Brooks she's not going to let a little thing like identity stop her from getting what she wants. When Michael's father tries to kidnap his son and use the child in an effort to get his hands on heirloom jewels that have been handed down to Theresa and her brother, it's Pierson who comes to the rescue. He finds himself falling for Theresa, and when she needs him most he does what he thought he'd never do again: be a policeman.
