About This Book

Nicholas Revill, son of a wealthy nineteenth-century industrialist, is sent to the south-west coast of Ireland to recuperate after a severe illness. There, on the long quiet beaches, he finds a kind of peace.

He takes out a boat but is caught in a storm and washed up, unconscious, on one of the islands he has seen on the horizon. He comes to his senses in a strange, sea-stained bedroom where two girls are talking about him, girls who are dressed in clothes of another age. They too are strange and beautiful and it is not long before Nicholas realises that they are both in love with him. But he has lost his memory and doesn't know if he is free to marry anyone.

Added to his problems is Colm O'Leary who hates Nicholas for taking away Luane, the girl he himself has planned to make his wife. And dominating the life of this strange island is O'More, the ‘King' over these isolated people, and Luane's grandfather.
