Twenty-five years ago a nuclear bomb detonated in Washington D.C. and forever changed the lives of every American citizen. An all-volunteer military became lost to the past; mandatory defense and tactics training is the new reality. To eighteen-year-old Jessica "Jess" Harden, the training is little more than a hurdle that stands in her path to a history degree from Princeton.
