Missing the servant of the Druid Lady, Odin commands that Atheleynne the Seer must be found, and the obedient Valkyrie scour Yggdrasil's darkest corners. However, when the Seer's hopeless doom is revealed, Odin declares him lost, and forbids any from seeking him. Feeling abandoned by Karl, and having never fit in with her immortal shield-sisters, Reginleif struggles to prove herself, even if she must disobey Odin's command. Transformed by Silvana and Glororil, Reginlief appeals to her only friend, Hel, the Norse Goddess of Death. In England, Castle Bristlen is besieged. Karl and Eloise, their love diminished by secrets and lies, find themselves helpless before an army that all their forces can't hope to defeat. Punished when her defiance is revealed, Reginlief is cast out of Asgard, and returned to Castle Bristlen. Her only hope of restoration lies in the distant land of Egypt, where she must find a mystical portal, open it, and rescue Athelwynne the Seer. Forced to aid her by Rafe and Seren, Karl and Eloise join Reginlief on her quest, to sail south to the lands of endless sunshine, if they can survive the dangerous journey.
