Smoke & Mirrors

The old-fashioned multi-paned window looked out on a breathtaking view. Bright sunlight made dancing diamonds on the bay. Yachts rode gently at the marina or dipped and swayed showing colourful sails as they made their way out of the bay into the harbour where they dodged ferries and larger craft. Just visible to the right traffic streamed away from the city and Kings Cross towards the beaches some miles to the east. No one from this family would ever look out of this window again. The beauty of the day and the bay would remain hidden from them.
