Hegira is a leviathan ship, home to thousands of sapient alien races. The ship of legend left behind by a nearly extinct race of beings called Starchasers is a powerhouse barreling across galaxies effortlessly. There are many who seek to take control of this rare jewel but to control this ship, one must control her pilot. Bex Atria cares little about the ambitions of those who seek power. Jaded as they come, the bounty hunter is resentful when tasked with playing bodyguard to the sheltered creature about to inherit the coveted role of Hegira's pilot. Sumida is a runaway, not to mention a naive aristocrat who represents everything that Bex loathes, but during a helter-skelter chase through the grimy underbelly of their sagging kingdom, the jaded mercenary's disgust toward her cosseted charge gradually turns to awe.
