Sky and The Spirit Child is a dark fantasy short story set in America during the Great Depression, when travelling circuses crossed the country bringing wonders to small towns ravaged by poverty and hardship. When a child is born with a mysterious power known as the dazzle, the carny folk of Professor Varnok's Amazing Travelling Circus adopt the child and name it 'Sky'. Sky's power is both a gift and a curse - for it makes strangers see Sky either as a boy or as a girl. Luckily, Sky grows up surrounded and accepted by carny folk with gifts just as unusual.
