When Camilla Carey came to the island of Madeira to look after her half-sister Roberta, she knew she had made a mistake. Roberta had changed, not only physically and emotionally, but in strange disturbing ways Camilla could not understand.

As days passed Camilla became aware that unpleasant coincidences were mounting steadily. They were little events, but strung together they formed a tightening web of terror. And before she realized it, Camilla found herself trapped in a macabre deception that twisted love into a design of death.
