Race to the Death

Chicago mortgage broker Rebecca Robbins returns home to Indian Falls, Illinois, just long enough, she hopes, to sell her family's old roller-skating rink. But a dead body on the bathroom floor makes a speedy sale look unlikely. The victim is Mack the handyman, found facedown among some prescription pills. But what seems like an accident, or sadly, suicide, turns out to be murder.

Determined to get this mystery solved, Rebecca uncovers some quirky small-town secrets and oddball characters. And her grandfather, a geriatric lothario up to his false teeth in dangerous liaisons, isn't making things any easier. While the deliciously hunky local veterinarian and his charming pet camel add to the crazy atmosphere, menacing notes and another corpse make it clear that danger is closing in. Rebecca just prays her legs move fast enough to out-skate a killer.
