About This Book

At 16, Charlotte Jefferson was an illiterate runaway. Rescued by a stranger, she was placed in an orphanage run by nuns, where she was happy working in the kitchen and helping take care of the children and the sisters. At 18, she joined the convent and continued to cook for the orphans and the nuns. A few years later, against her wishes, the community elected her to be its mother superior.

As subsequent decades pass, Charlotte and her Sisters go to extraordinary lengths to care for the aging members of her community.
