Sister Harriet Steel, nicknamed Harry, is a nurse at Knightley Hospital when her life is suddenly disrupted by the arrival of new consultant Dr. Paul Tattersall.

Sister Harriet Steele's heart was a large one. Her job on the orthopaedics ward at Knightley Hospital was at the center of her life and when she wasn't caring for her patients she was immersed in charity work. So it did seem rather unfair when a new consultant arrived at the hospital, to spoil everything for Harriet.

When she was a child, she had hero-worshipped Paul Tattersall, the boy from the Big House - and now he had come back into her life again she realised that she still hero-worshipped him - and that he was as far out of reach as ever. For now there's also Dr. Sally French...
