John Stanton and Selize return to the Alpha Centauri system aboard the Space Navy's covert Spectre ships. As the Proxian invasion escalates, John embarks on a desperate flight to save Selize and his unborn daughter, Sonya. With the First Fleet under heavy attack, their only chance of survival may lie in the Centaurians' unique ability. But they'll have to survive long enough to use it.
