About This Book

I started writing short stories before I started writing books because I assumed that if I had short story credits then literary agents would take more notice of me. This is not necessarily the case but I did find that I enjoyed writing short stories. The five short stories below are between 2,000 words and 8,000 words.

A dangerous Scotsman in Afghanistan

Robert Berenson is a Canadian with the NATO mission in Afghanistan. Berenson is a psycho and a bully and so far he's gotten away with it. Waiting for Robert Berenson just over the next hill is a man called Duncan McNeill. McNeill is dressed like an Afghan, blends in very easily and speaks Dari, Pashtu and the two Turkic languages that are used in Afghanistan, Uzbek and Turkmen.
Oh and one other thing; Duncan McNeill is very, very dangerous and he's also very, very annoyed. McNeill is descended from Vikings and in his opinion war should not be about shooting women and children.

Xannefly

This science fiction story is set in the 26th century. Old Earth is in quarantine and most of humanity is set up on various planets near the center of the galaxy. In this story the crew of the Tafilalt is short of funds and they aim to rent their male navigator, Amnon Bar Tur out for a six week temporary marriage to a Councilwoman from the planet Xannefly. That is, he will be rented out if they can land on the planet without breaking up in the atmosphere for Xannefly is the most dangerous of all the planets to land on. Malin Strand is the female Scandinavian pilot of the ship and she is the only woman on an otherwise all-male ship crewed by men from Middle Eastern planets.
