About This Book

Robert Lescaut is a colonel in Napoleon's army. His estranged wife, Lucie, has been murdered and he is determined to find her killer to somehow ease his guilt for having not loved her as he knew he should. His search takes him to Scotland where he learns that Lucie was the illegitimate child of Thomas Blair and Lucillia Lauder, whose families have feuded for longer than anyone can recall and for reasons that none cares to remember. He assumes the identity of a British soldier and claims to have fought along side the Blairs during the French Revolution so that he can ferret out more family secrets and learn why one of the Blairs would kill Lucie -- a woman who was never acknowledged by her long-dead father and who was unknown to the rest of the Blair family. But it is there in the house that spurned his wife that he finds love and passion in the arms of Emma Blair, a woman who he has lied to and deceived -- even in the midst of their passion.
