Sheba finds her husband of 40 years dead on their sofa. Soon enough, she realizes he wasn't the only one to lose his life. No longer part of a couple, Sheba feels quarantined, untouchable. Her home is silent and empty; her social life dwindles. Attempting to create a new life, she explores volunteer work and even computer dating, all without much success. Yet gradually she suspects her beloved, David, may be dead but not gone: Lost items reappear, she sniffs his scent, hears him call her name, sees light orbs in photographs. She wants to share her joy at this discovery, but neither her friends nor her family wants to hear her story. They don't want to believe. So what happens at Sheba's, stays at Sheba's.
