In their youth, while a half a world apart, they shared a world depression. In their adolescence they shared an oncoming world war. As young adults they shared that war's tragedies and horrors. But it wasn't only Franklin Dreiser and Fumiko Nishida who shared destinies - so did the Japanese people and the American occupation forces. Together they found a mutual affection and respect.
