Sara Winton had jumped at the chance to be assistant curator of the famous Worlon Art Institute, located in a majestic isolated castle built by steel magnate and art connoisseur Anthony Worlon,

But Sara's happiness was to be short-lived. First she was to meet Tony Worlon, the millionaire's surly, magnificent son whose manners were as shocking as his appearance was riveting; then secretary Nita Rutherford, cool, sensuous, untrustworthy; and Jim Bronson, the curator, whose kindness seemed but a front for something mysterious, something unseen.

Finally, inescapably, there was Belmeryn Castle itself. It was a place in which paintings disappeared as fast as the reappeared again, in which there were robberies with no victims and no consequences, violence with no perpetrator.

And Sara knew if she was to jump again, it would be from horror, not joy…
