Kayla loves her museum job, but the poor pay leaves her finances pretty tight. Her cheap apartment is bad enough, even before a shocking local murder further unsettles her. The real terror comes when she unearths mysterious artifacts in a museum shipment that threaten to sweep her into an ancient and terrible supernatural struggle.

Gideon is a Nephilim, beings denied a chance at a true afterlife and held in suspicion and contempt. Despite that, along with his brothers-in-arms, he helps to maintain the balance of the world and protect humans from the dangers of the underworld. Though he's supposed to keep his distance from humans, fate and passion combine to draw him toward Kayla.
