When talented young magazine photographer Laura Williams came to Carcassonne, France, to take pictures of a medieval festival , she was fascinated by the ancient walled city, with its colorful past and its air of mystery. She was charmed by Jean-Pierre Grilliot , the young painter who adored her. And she was greatly intrigued by Richard and Theodore DuPont , the handsome, wealthy half brothers who were the talk of the town. They could be so delightful, so magnetic, so gentle.

Yet one of them was obsessed by a dark inner guilt that could explode into terrifying violence at any moment...
