Shades of Monte Christo and Other Short Stories

?A college professor is denied tenure and finds a treasure reminiscent of that found by Edmund Dante, the Count of Monte Christo. He moves to the Gulf Coast where gambling casinos make new wealth invisible; meets a beautiful widow with a seven-year-old son who needs surgery for a hole in his heart. This is a love story and a warm human story of as child who is made whole by modern medicine. The other stories run the gamut from the humorous to the detestable but oh so apt situations that our modern world develops.
