Indian drums in the night beat out a message of danger for pretty young Serena Dahl, on an archaeological expedition to the remote mountains of New Mexico. Now this beautiful landscape had been transformed into a place of menace by fearful figures in birdlike costumes who attacked in the dark, then vanished as if by magic.

Was there truly an ancient Indian curse that protected these mountains against outsiders? Or was a modern band of native terrorists at work? Could it even be that a member of the expedition itself was behind the mounting violence?
