The dark creature is Ahriman, a fallen angel living on Earth in human form as the ruthless and powerful master of darkness. His true goal is too horrible to contemplate, and he believes the Book holds the secrets he needs to carry it out. An all-out attack by Ahriman and his army of flying creatures succeeds in capturing Christina and Ellen, inflicting horrifying wounds, and leaves Rafe and his brother Pablo for dead in the depths of Lake Minnetonka. The master now holds the injured sisters in his private research facility on his estate across the lake from the girls’ home. He only needs the Book that he believes will give him the next step in his diabolical plan and he believes Christina knows where it is.
