After an explosion kills her mother, Lexi Cooper finds herself an orphan with no family ties. Her mother, Maryanne who was a drug addict, was killed while she was cooking meth. Lexi had never been able to find out who her father was. She had moved in with her best friend Amanda shortly before her mother died. Rachael lives in the mountains with her protective father Charlie. She has vague memories of her mother leaving her alone when she was just a small child. The memories came to her in dreams that would cause her to wake up screaming into the night until her father came to comfort her.
