Kirsten Elk walks into a nasty surprise--her friend Mona Silberger is stabbed to death on her own bedroom floor. Making matters worse, Kirsten has no memory of what happened right before she came to Mona's waterfront house, nor does she know when she got there. All she knows is that she drove there a couple of hours ago to check on her sick friend.

As the police dig into the crime, Kirsten learns that Mona was not as popular as she had thought. In fact, she had several enemies. Maybe the man who stalked Mona didn't kill her, like Kirsten first assumed. In fact, more and more, it seems like Kirsten herself may be involved in Mona's murder. But why would she want to kill her friend?
