Saving Sophie is the third story in the series following the fortunes of the Buckingham-Brown family in the mid 19th century. Lady Sophie Buckingham-Brown was a very different character to her two step-sisters, Kit and Susie. Born in America, she had travelled to live in England as a child when her father inherited the Earldom. Lady Sophie was conventional not rebellious and she had been brought up to understand and accept the ways of high society. When she accepted a proposal of marriage from the heir apparent to the Earldom of Downham it was seen as no more than an obvious step for such a practical young woman.
