Miss Jane Austen wrote the opening chapters of what promised to be a delightful novel but, unfortunately for us all, ill health prevented its completion. All her words are incorporated here in the first volume, entitled The Brothers. While this described the fate of some of the characters, other popular ones, like Clara Brereton, and unpopular ones, like Esther Denham, remained in suspense. Volume two, The Book of Esther, resolves this while describing the following Season in Sanditon. The authoress can only hope that Miss Austen would not have disapproved.
