Run!

In Book 1, The Sacrifice, fourteen-year-old Meriani learns the horrible truth: that her father has pledged her as his next sacrifice of thanksgiving! Knowing that their people do not make human sacrifices; and believing that she will save her father from a huge mistake, she dares to go against her father's wishes and flees the village in order to save her life. Now, in Run!, Meriani will come across unexpected, new adventures as she and her friend learn what it means to survive on their own. They must depend on their wit, know-how and skills not only to get through the days; but also to make it through the uncertain nights. Facing unforeseen dangers and uncertain of whom they may trust, Meriani slowly comes to understand what it is that she must do and, against all council, chooses to face her persecutors head on!
