Professor Royce Blondell, an attractive young widower, never expected to find himself on the cover of supermarket tabloids, where he appears to be engaged in a passionate kiss with a famous songwriter. His mission had been to find the runaway composer, Samantha Whitfield, and talk her into returning to her business partner, his friend, Douglas Langley. Yet the lovely redhead is trying to turn her back on the flashy world of entertainment. She's determined instead to continue her education and enjoy a quieter life in Vermont. So when a photographer pesters her, she plants a kiss on the nearest unsuspecting male, who happens to be Royce. Life in a quiet college town becomes a bit more rambunctious, as the media relentlessly creates a romance from that one picture of them together.
