About This Book

Rosco Jack of Gateway Farm is the tale of a runt of the litter Jack Russell terrier, who along with his sister, finds himself abandoned in the deep of night at the gateway to a farm isolated in the piney woods of East Texas. Tragedy strikes before Rosco Jack is discovered by the owners of the farm.

As Rosco Jack settles in at Gateway Farm, he comes to realize that life on the farm and in the surrounding forest will be more of a challenge due to his small size. He yearns to run with the big dogs, to become a full-fledged member of the Gateway Posse as they protect the farm from all who would bring harm to their family.

Rosco learns the importance of carefully selecting his friends, accepting instruction, and gaining from experience. The trek toward this goal leads Rosco into confrontation with his greatest fear, the green-eyed menace of his first night as a castaway, the pain of loss in battle and the high cost of achieving his place in the posse.

The journey is a celebration of the bond between man and dog, the importance of loyalty, the cost of integrity and the reward of overcoming ones' limitations while facing the battles that life brings to all.
