Adam Wakefield receives an invitation to become pastor of the largest and most prestigious church in Chicago. Not wanting to leave his beloved congregation in Apple Valley,Arkansas he resists until he is sure it is God's will. 
On the train to Chicago Adam Meets Victoria Winters a disgraced schoolteacher. Falsely accused of beating a student Victoria was fired jailed and run out of town. Now she must keep her secret from this handsome preacher. 
Unknown to Adam the last pastor was murdered. Confronting the murderers Adam is shot. While he fights for his life, Victoria discovers she loves him. Will Adam survive? And if he does, will he ever be the same.
