Ripening Vine

When Rose got a frantic S.O.S. from her old friend Kerry in France, she lost no time in going over there to see if she could help. But her kind gesture soon rebounded on her - for in the Dordogne, although Kerry's problem rapidly and happily sorted itself out, poor Rose was confronted with problems herself, problems that were not of her own making.
For she found herself thrown more and more into contact with the local lord of the manor, the imposing Philippe du Caine - a man who was not of her world any more than she was of his. Any involvement with him, she knew, could only lead to heartbreak; but how could she get away?
