About This Book

A phoney evangelist, the Rev. Sande Kiwedde, is ministering in Kampala's biggest and phoniest miracle crusade ever. His money-harvesting scheme goes according to plan until his superstar partner, Sugar Akot, invites for testimonies. Unaware that the invitation is for the busloads of mercenaries that have been hired to testify of God's miracles, Halima Babirye rushes onto the platform. Sugar reluctantly gives her the microphone. Instead of testifying, Halima sings Sugar's latest hit song, causing the miraculous power of God to manifest. This deep born-again Christian worshipper so enthrals the Rev. Kiwedde that he compares her more favourably to Sugar. He publicly invites her to lead worship at his St Kiwedde's Church; the mammoth crowd falls raptly silent before bursting into wild excitement when Halima accepts the invitation. Sugar, however, is not fooled by the evangelist's theatricals: for, it was such an invitation that ushered her into a place where he proposed marriage to her.
