About This Book

The appearance of a certain young man within the Cartwright family circle, and the advent of the Second World War, almost devastated the well-known, Hull-based shipbuilding firm. The city of Kingston-upon-Hull suffered horrendous losses through the indiscriminate bombing of the city during the war, including hundreds of lives, shops, churches, factories, and thousands of houses. Also, the majority of the whole dock area was completely destroyed. Yet, the people never gave in, and their great city rose like a phoenix from the ashes.
