Wealthy Jesse Steed promised his high school sweetheart, Rachel Locke, if she'd marry him, he'd lay Leiper's Fork at her feet. Leiper's Fork is a beautiful historic village settled in 1790 by soldiers in the Revolutionary War who were given land for their services.
