It began beautifully - a holiday away from the tourist crowds, a revelling in the lovely countryside of Bavaria. But then Susan Carter's dream was rudely shattered by the crash of a speeding car!

If only Susan hadn't recognized the photograph of the car said to have been used by assassins! If only she weren't in a position to identify them!

Two men were quickly upon the scene to help her - an Englishman, Stephen Maitland, and a fair-haired, good-looking German, Gunther Cliburn. They were so kind, so helpful - surely she could trust them. But gradually for Susan life takes on the horror of a nightmare.
