About This Book

Renaissance and Reboot in Flyover Country is an alternate history novel, set in current times, which depicts events leading up to the Second American Revolution. After COVID nearly kills him, Jack Harper cashes out of his frantic life in Silicon Valley, and embarks on a quest for a simpler life. An unexpected event lands him in a small northwest Nebraska town for a long weekend. The tree-lined streets of the town are lovely, but the many empty homes show that the town is dying. A serious lack of opportunities and good jobs are sending the young people away.Jack planned to write a blog article about small towns dying in the heartland. As he gathers information for the story, he kept running into the fact that if he wasn't part of the solution, he was part of the problem. The COVID pandemic, and potential Lockdowns loom as a primary obstacle to his recovery plans, and then the new administration's actions are adding to the uncertainty he faces. His plan to launch a business incubator in a defunct mall is moving ahead, when a state-wide COVID lockdown brings progress to a halt. Unless the lockdown is lifted soon, Jack won't have enough cash left to complete the project. Can the town be saved?
