About This Book

Dominic Rehnquist is a private investigator who lives in Islamorada in the Upper Florida Keys. By happenstance, one day while he is out for his morning run, he sees a man physically abusing a young woman, intervenes, and the man flees. Having saved the day, he learns that the woman, Rosie Barela, is a single mother who lives in Homestead with her grandmother and three-year-old son and was waiting for the bus to take her home when she was attacked.

Within hours of returning home, Rosie's attacker and another man force their way into her home and abduct her with the intention of resigning her to a life of forced prostitution. As Rosie and her grandmother are both undocumented immigrants, reporting the kidnapping to the police is out of the question, and so, Rosie's grandmother calls upon Rehnquist for help, to find Rosie and free her from her captors. Rehnquist knows that once he does, he'll also have to ensure that the two men never trouble her again.
