In the whirl of the London marriage mart, Miss Rosalind Dacey stood alone. While other young ladies used all their wiles to snare a husband, Rosalind did the reverse. Single she was and single she would remain. If she had anything to say about it -- and with her sharp tongue and iron-clad resolve, she most certainly did.

Unfortunately, her guardian, the handsome and high-minded Edward Marsh, Earl of Raymore, had equally firm ideas. It was his duty to marry Rosalind off, and marry her off he would, to the first eligible suitor who fell under her spell.

When that suitor turned out to be Sir Bernard Crawleigh, an ideal gentleman whom even Rosalind could not fault or reject, both Raymore and his willful ward should have been overjoyed at this happy ending to their violent tug-of-war...unless, of course, neither wanted to let the other go...
