About This Book

In the not so distant and nowhere near as bright future, Chantal Kiffer grows up in what could best be described as a slum in Washington, D.C. An orphaned and overly promiscuous teenager, concerned not with laws and morality but with enjoyment, Chantal finds herself pregnant, abandoned and left to fend for herself due to the whims of a cruel, capricious fate and a cowardly boyfriend. She finds it necessary to fall back on the oldest profession in a lawless area, with all the risks entailed. The alternative is homelessness, starvation and who knows what else she might have to take on to survive. Chantal enters the world of prostitution and is shunned by many. Despite everything, for a short time she finds a boyfriend and he makes life worth living. After he is pressured by his parents to leave her, she resorts to alcohol in larger amounts to hide from herself. This futuristic romance takes off when Chantal is at her lowest and meets a human clone named Erika. As Chantal recovers from the injuries life has dealt her, she and Erika become lovers and leave the lawless zone in which they are living. Rags to Riches: The Life and Loves of a Twenty-First Century Orphan - Book One: Princess in Rags tells Chantal's story in unflinching terms. Stay tuned for Book Two! David Young lives in northeast England and enjoys playing war games. He is devising the rest of the trilogy. http://sbpra.com/DavidYoung
