Never have the destinies of a nation and of a family been so dramatically entwined. In the decades after World War II, South Africa struggles against the tribal violence at its heart--between Englishman and Afrikaaner, white and black--that threatens, finally and irreparably, to tear it apart.

It is a conflict most vividly played out in the savage rivalry between two men.
