About This Book

tarSIZ introduces the first monograph dedicated to the work of artist Rachel Feinstein. Known for her matronly portrait series on mirror and neo-baroque sculpture, Feinstein is perhaps most recognizable, at least by sight, as the subject in the paintings of her husband, John Currin. The book is a comprehensive survey of her sculpture from 1998 to 2008, as well as her paintings, pastels and drawing. In addition to assembling her artwork to date, the book will feature an essay by James Frey, a Feinstein collector himself and author of A Million Little Pieces and the upcoming, Bright Shiny Morning and an interview with friend and filmmaker, Sofia Coppola. Rachel Feinstein has exhibited extensively at place such as the Whitney Museum of American Art, P.S. 1 Contemporary Art Center, Sotheby's "Art in the Atrium", Le Consortium in Dijon and the Hydra Workshop in Greece. She currently lives and works in New York.
