Jane Kolsetter had a horror of mental illness, and regarded mental hospitals with an almost superstitious dread, in spite of her training in general nursing. But she had to readjust her ideas when her beloved sister had a breakdown and had to be admitted to a hospital for the mentally ill, and Janet took a post there to be near her. At Ravenscroft she gradually learned how wrong she was to be frightened; that, with careful handling, the brain can be cured as successfully as the body.
